Happy New Year! While it may seem a
bit early to be talking about next year‘s (2019-2020) PTA Executive
Board, we want to ensure everyone is aware of the opportunities
available to each of you and the process involved.
PTA
Members: Any Parent with a child enrolled in PS205 is automatically a
PTA Member. PTA members are always welcome at monthly meetings and
encouraged to voice opinions and ask questions. Volunteering for school
events and the various committees, is always appreciated.
PTA
Executive Board Members: These are Parents that have been elected, by
the PTA Members, to executive positions to serve in leadership roles on
the board.
All
PTA Executive Board positions are held for one year only, starting July
1st and parents need to be nominated, run for the position and be voted
into the position. Parents who are currently on the Executive Board
are not guaranteed a spot on the Executive Board the following year
unless they run and are voted in again. The nomination letter goes out
in March, the deadline for nominations is the April PTA meeting and then
voting takes place during the May PTA meeting!
In the
2019-2020 school year, our current PTA President will be moving out of
the area and will not be running as PTA President. We would like to
invite any parent who is interested in running for any position on next
year’s Executive Board, including PTA President(s), Vice President(s),
Recording Secretary, Treasurer and Corresponding Secretary to contact
Amy Kaye at amymkaye@gmail.com to answer any questions about serving on
the Executive Board. We invite you to participate during this current
year to see what the duties entail for each position.
All PTA
members play an important role in our school community and we look
forward to new ideas and new people on the 2019-2020 Executive Board.
